Healthy Tips for Beautiful Living

Okay. So they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty also is in your hands. To eat right and live right. We all have heard of doing these things but sometimes we forget. You can't always look good on the outside to cover up what's on the inside.
  1. Wash your face day and night. In the evening to wash away all the filth and grime of the day. The phone you had next to your skin as well as the pollution in the air all affect your skin. Washing in the morning removes the dirt and grime and grease from your pillow. If allowed to stay on your skin breakouts and dull skin would occur.
  2. Drink plenty of water. Your body is majority water and when you sweat it evaporates. When you use the restroom it leaves. So make sure you replenish your fluids. Water, Milk, and All Natural Juices are good fluid sources but water is best. Water also helps to flush out your system to get rid of toxins living in your system. Don't like the taste of water? Too bland? Try a lemon wedge or cumber slice. Not only will it change the taste of your water but also it will give you the added benefits of the two.
  3. Brushing your teeth. Brush in the morning and at night. So many times we know to do it but put it off til its too late. Brushing helps to remove plague and other grimy creatures from your teeth and breath. Bad breath is not attractive because you forgot to brush and floss.
  4. Are you stressed? Too much to do and not enough time to do it? Bad break up? Stress can cause unwanted illnesses and sometimes even gray hairs before they are due. Taking a daily supplement of Holy Basil, B-Vitamins or Ashwagandha will help you to deal with the situations in your life better.
  5. Too many times we eat take out or don't eat the right things and this is expressed through our skin. No time? When eating out get as many vegetables on your order as possible. Pack an apple, orange, plum or other fruit that travels well for a quick snack and pick me up. These items are better for you than chips or candy. And your body will thank you for it!
  6. Multi-vitamins are our friend. Daily we do not get the correct amount of vitamins and minerals from our food and this is reproduced through our skin and actions. Lack of energy and dull skin are examples of not getting the right amount of nutrition.
  7. ZZZZZZZZZZ. Also known as beauty sleep. It was named this for a reason. Yes you do need the right amount of sleep. Preferably eight hours. While you are sleeping your body is rejuvenating itself from the stress it has been exposed to. Ever see someone with not enough sleep? Bags under their eyes? Dull skin? Tired looking? After a while this takes a negative toll on your body if this trend is repeated frequently. You can start to look beyond your age, your skin will not be as clear and your body will not operate correctly.
  8. Get moving. No time for the gym? Wake up 10 minutes early and do light stretching, walking in place, lunges, push ups, jumping jacks, etc. Park the car a few spots farther than usual to add extra steps. Housework constitutes as exercise if done continually. Studies show you need at least 30 minutes per day of exercise. I applied this method and have dropped a few sizes myself.

A...Ten....Hut!!!

Sears Bailey Blue Strapless
ArmWarmers at Karmaloop

Attention! Hey ladies. The military trend is in right now and is the key to looking sexy but confident and in control. No push ups or jumping jacks required just a little style sense and you will be good to go. A lot of stores now are carrying this trend and I have found a few already for you. The Nordstrom "Diana" Military Inspired Wool Blend Coat would look savvy with the perfect pair of pumps for fall weather paired with skinny jeans. Skinny jeans not your thing? Try a knee length skirt with a bold pair of tights. Pair your skinny jeans with this coat and pumps for fall. Over the knee boots would definitely command attention. Sears has a cute strapless dress from Bailey Blue. This dress can be worn currently with a cute pair of sandals or with fall and winter approaching over jeans and a cute sweater added with boots. This trend comes in coats, jackets, dresses, tops, pants and even shoes. Anything you can imagine is possible with the military trend. Conquer and destroy!

Tickle Me Jeffrey

Giggle Tick
Summer is winding down and although out on the market for quite sometime, I still find myself admiring the coveted Jeffrey Campbell Giggle Tick. I am loving this sandal/wedge/boot. It is bold and eye stopping in its design. They are currently out of my budget but will definitely be on my wish list if still around when I get the cash. Love em' but not sure what to wear with em'? Mix and match your style to get the perfect fit. A graphic tee and shorts would look killer or switch it up with a skirt. The possibilities are endless. This current style can be found at Karmaloop for a cool $200. All of JC shoes are innovative and cutting edge. Jeffrey Campbell has been around for ten years and looks as if he is here to stay. Starting a shoe company in your garage has its payoff. Sort of similar to selling tapes out the truck of your car, or books, or shoes(in my case). Cop you a pair before they're gone.

On the Prowl

Can a leopard change its spots? I don't think so but you can definitely get some of your own. Today's DIY is a manicure tutorial on how to get leopard spot nails to be fierce in the jungle. You will need the following list of items to perform this wild style of nail design...... yellow or similar color nail polish, black nail polish, clear top coat nail polish, nail file, clippers, and cuticle cream/oil if on hand.
  • Start by removing any existing nail polish with nail polish remover.
  • Trim nails and file to desired look. This includes short, long, round, oval, squared, etc.
  • Wash hands and push cuticles back in the process, trim if necessary.
  • Paint two coats of yellow nail polish on nails.
  • Dab in various places on nail bed black polish to desired look.
  • Finish with a clear top coat to seal your new look.

The Long and Short of It

Fashion Designer Kesh
Kelis
Model/Singer Cassie

Long locks on one side and shaved hair on the other. This is a trend that has slowing been creeping up through the mainstream and doesn't look like its stopping. Alice Dellal has been credited with appearing on the scene catwalk style and it has tumbled all across Hollywood. Kelis, Toni Braxton, LaLa Vasquez and singing sensation Rhianna have been seen sporting this daring do. Most notably with model/singer Cassie and new to the scene Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. This look can take the blah out of the average ordinary hairstyle. Heads will definitely turn if you rocked this style. Is it for you or is to over the top? I would definitely go with this style if I made about 100 times what I make now. Money somehow seems to change things......on another note check out Drake's song "Fancy." I'm kind of feeling it. It's kinda corny but sort of catchy. A little fllygirl groove to get you bumping for the week knowing you looking good and ain't do it for nobody but you. Loving it!
