No sleep for the weary

Did you ever here that saying, "no sleep for the weary"?

Well, when you are weary you need sleep no question about it. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our lives that we tend to neglect ourselves. There has to be a balance. I know some people will totally get themselves "dolled up" and everything else will be a disarray. On the other hand some people will make sure that everything else is taken care of and then they have no time for themselves. Does this sound like you?

Sleep and rest are beauty essentials as well. You can be tired and not get enough rest and it can take a toll on your health and physical beauty. Those bags under your eyes didn't ask to be there so send them packing with a little shut eye. A few minutes on break, lunch, while the kids are napping or going to bed a little earlier will help. Sleep masks are helpful as well as hot/cold eye masks.

I personally use both and can attest that they work wonders. However the down side to a sleep mask is that it shuts out the sunlight so I have overslept a few times. Yikes! How do you explain that to the boss. On the other hand I may go in late but I feel like a million bucks from the restful sleep I just received. With the hot/cold eye mask the cold chills the area around your eyes and can compress the puffiness. I know we have all heard of the good ole cucumbers for your eyes but potato slices can even help. You don't have to spend a million bucks to look like it.

This concludes the post for now but take time to yourself and give yourself a break. A few moments will do wonders for your skin, health and attitude. When you feel good you exhibit that on the outside and it shows to everyone else. This is the biggest beauty secret ever. Inner beauty. When you are happy with yourself you glow and no amount of makeup or famous label designer brands can bring that to the table.

 Until next time.......XOXOXOXO

Are you in a mid life crisis?

Are you in mid life crisis? If everyone but you thinks so because of the way you dress maybe you might need to get out of your clothes. For 30 to 40 year old's,  dressing trendy is a hard thing because you either are in Abercrombie or you are in Wet Seal. There are Nordstroms and Target and other stores but don't get caught in the hype. Sometimes these stores just don't have what we are looking for. A glam gal doesn't conform to the norm. Sometimes knowing what works for you doesn't always involve trying to look younger than you are. Women in their 30's and 40's can look just as good as a Forever 21 girl if not better. Here are a few tips.

Number 1. Try a store you would not normally shop at or have wanted to go in to but didn't have the chance. Try on a few pieces that you like. I have found that sometimes the clothing on the mannequin isn't always flattering on me but the ones that are just hanging on a rack.

Number 2. Know your body. Accept it. Until you can get rid of it or fix it accept it. Until you can tone those abs, accept that you have them. Until your trunk has junk accept it. This will help you make a lot less fashion mistakes and be more comfortable with your body. Confidence is the ultimate fashion accessory.

Number 3. Don't try to be something you are not. If you are not Beyonce' or Jennifer Lopez reading this then love the skin you are in. No one else is like you and that is an advantage you have over the competition. If you are short then love it. You can wear heels to accentuate it. If you have short hair and want longer hair wear a nice hair clip. If you have luscious lips then like them. You get my point. Again and I can't say it enough confidence is one beauty accessory you can't buy. And remember confidence is not arrogance.

Sorry for not updating as I should but I have been jammed packed sewing and getting things ready to try to open up my shop. I will post pics as things get completed and thanks for sticking with me! xoxoxoxo

Justin Beiber Does Nails

Step 2 the Beat of My Heart
If you haven't heard over the net already where have you been? Didn't have time yet to write this post until now due to being bogged down with a couple of other projects. Also known as JB or at least that's what me and my tween daughter call him now has a line of nail polishes. I thought it was strange at first but a brilliant marketing and product if I might say so myself. The majority of fan base for Justin is tweens. What better than to dress them in your own polish. I know these will fly off the shelf. Due to arrive in December exclusively at Wal-Mart stores until February when it will be sold at Target, Sears and other retailers. Nicole by OPI is the lucky brand to carry this line called the "One Less Lonely Girl Collection." Colors include Prized Possession Purple(grape), Give Me The First Dance(silver), Me + Blue(dark blue), OMB!(bright red), One Less Lonely Girl(lavender), and Step 2 The Beat Of My Heart which features heart shaped glitter. Half a dozen shades will launch by winter and another eight by January 2011. Not a real JB fan since I am in my 30's but if the colors are right I would so wear this polish. JB is definitely smart. Looks like he is taking tips from the Olsen twins. Shirts already in stores such as Wal-Mart, a recent television appearance on CSI and now this. Don't forget about the dolls set to launch as well this winter that features 30 second clips of his hit songs. Justin may not last but with the right accountant he can surely retire for rest of his life in case of over marketing. Just a thought.

Cropped Up But Coverd Up

Hello dear avid readers! I'm not quite sure what happened to my rss feed but I am definitely looking into it. Also I know I haven't been posting every day or other day but due to family issues it has taken some of my time away but I will definitely be back soon full force! Today is all about crops. Not pants or capris but jackets and coats. Fall is here and we need to wear a jacket but don't want to look bulky and uncomfortable when the weather warms up mid day. I am here to tell you that you can still look fashionable and sexy while doing it. Yes it's possible. Here are a few of my picks that I ran across and really love them. First we have the Latte by Coffeshop rust plaid wool cropped sleeve coat at ShopStyle found at Bluefly.com. Originally $147 it is currently on sale for $124.95. This is perfect for your all American girl. This coat is stylish and chic. Pair this with a fitted tee or sheath for the perfect look.

6pm.com is one of my favorite sites. I was able to get the coveted DC Chalet boots last winter from 6pm.com for $35! Now you know that was a steal for those boots. You can get designer brands at a fraction of the cost here. Often they run sales on a particular brand that is up to 70% off MSRP. This Christin Michaels Carrie Double Breasted Jacket in Ivory says that you are a power player. The design of this jacket entails three-quarter sleeves, a vented back and a funnel collar. Elbow gloves, long sleeve top or arm warmers set the stage for success in this ensemble.

Last but not least you set the stage in this Alice + Olivia "Luiza" Leather/Ponte Motorcycle Jacket. It can be found at Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's. Rock on and demand to been seen. No fears and no worries. Shoulder pads and uneven hem will set you apart from all the cookie cutter wanna be's. Only the confident chic will be seen in this. Pair up with some skinnies and stilettos and hit the town. The options are endless to a cropped jacket or coat. Pick yours and be glamorous. XOXOXOX

What Can I Use Vaseline For?

What can we use Vaseline for? Hmmm. This age old fight will never fail about using petroleum jelly and the pros and cons? Our forefathers and parents grew up on this stuff and it never hurt them. My mother used it on me regularly until I was too grown for her to slather me down with it and I must say I have beautiful skin. I myself have used Vaseline for various beauty rituals along the years with positive results. Too many times we want to buy, buy, and buy without looking right at home in our medicine cabinets. I have used Vaseline on my teeth while photo shooting and yes you can do that. It has been done in the industry before. I have used Vaseline on my eyelashes to keep them moisturized. Many people including myself have purchased Talika Lipocils, Sherani Lash Conditioner and countless other lash conditioners. It is especially good for after showering or bathing to apply a good amount to feet and put in socks overnight. You will wake up smooth and heavily moisturized without that greasy feeling. As I was researching on more ways to use Vaseline I ran across a post on http://www.christinaloves.com/. I can't think of another way to say it as well as she does so check her out and get grooving for cheap and look like a million. XOXOXO

All Natural Toothpaste

All natural toothpaste. Sound good? Too hard to make? I stumbled upon a video thread on youtube while looking for another video and I actually like it. Sometimes we spend way too much time on buying products and sometimes we can just use what we have at home. Natural is better by far. I haven't tried this recipe but I do think it works simply because my mom used to tell me to gargle with hydrogen peroxide. It kills the germs in your mouth and actually will give you a whiter smile. If you look at the ingredients in tooth whitening strips and some manufactured toothpastes this already is a main ingredient. The next ingredient is baking soda. We all know the cleaning power of baking soda. Not only will baking soda clean your teeth but it will also whiten your teeth as well also. Baking soda was used as a method of teeth cleaning well before toothpaste was invented. I use baking soda by dipping my toothbrush already with paste on it in the baking soda to coat the toothbrush and then proceed to brushing my teeth. This is actually a video submission to Threadbanger on youtube so check it out and tell me what you think.

Dining Out Healthy

Hey guys! This post isn't breaking down exact calories and listing all the restaurant chains in America either. Today I am writing on something simple but rather important which is eating out. We eat out almost every day and sometimes we don't consider the long term damage it does to our body. Not only does it take away from our natural glow but it also unbalances our digestive system. I have compiled a few simple choices from major fast food chains that more than likely can be found in every area of the world. Now these choices may not fill you up especially if you have a hearty appetite like me but these ideas should sustain you until you get home and fix a nutritious meal or are able to reach a destination that allows you more control of what you eat.
  • McDonalds...here you can order apple dippers, fruit and yogurt parfait, fruit and walnut salad, grilled chicken without the bun, Strawberry-Banana or Wild Berry smoothie, Minute Maid Apple Juice Box, white or chocolate milk, orange juice, or lastly Dasani Water
  • Wendy's....chili with beans for fiber, baked potato(sour cream and chives is best preferred), mandarin oranges, fresh fruit cup with apples, grapes, and pineapples, or an array of new salads. You can also just opt for the side salad. After I include the dressing, croutons, and cheese on the side salad I am full which now that I think about it probably defeats the point.oops!
  • Sonic now has fresh fruit which includes apples and bananas. You can order chocolate milk, water, tea, a grilled chicken wrap or chicken salad.
  • Burger King offers side garden salad, apple juice, milk, apple fries(similar to apple dippers), or a veggie burger. Yes they still make them!
  • Taco Bell offers fresco tacos and burritos which are topped off with their signature fiesta salsa. I posted the ingredients to Taco Bell's Fiesta Salsa because it actually is all natural aside from  a few preservatives to keep it fresh.

  • Fiesta Salsa

Tomatoes, White Or Yellow Onions, Cilantro. Fiesta Salsa Dressing: Diced Green Chili (Green Chilies, Citric Acid), Vinegar, Water, Diced JalapeƱo Chili, Partially Hydrogenated Corn Oil, Salt, Garlic Powder, Xanthan Gum, and Less Than 0.1% Sodium Benzoate Added As A Preservative.
